Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat and drain excess grease. Add the onion and cook until softened, then stir in the garlic. Season with beef bouillon, Italian seasoning, dried basil, cayenne pepper, black pepper and salt to taste.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer on low for 15- 20 minutes. Stir in fresh parsley and set aside.
- Prepare the cheese mixture by combining ricotta, parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning and salt in a bowl. Mix well, taste, and adjust. Stir in the egg last.
- Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 casserole dish. Add a layer of oven-ready noodles, followed by meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, adding the ricotta mixture in the middle layer.
- Top with remaining mozzarella cheese and cover tightly with foil.
- Bake at 375°F for 50 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly and lightly golden on top.
- Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
For cleaner slices, let the lasagna rest the full 15 minutes before cutting.
